Trying to Teach a Simple GDPR Implementation Approach on YouTube

In 2018, I'm challenging myself to come up with a simplified GDPR implementation approach that I can teach over YouTube. Why? In working with various security and privacy laws/regulations/frameworks, I have experienced first hand the difficulty in translating requirements into actionable steps. I think that GDPR defines much-needed measures for responsible management of personal data. As a data privacy advocate, I believe it introduces reasonable measures to provide consumers with choice and transparency over the use of their personal data. As a data security professional, I appreciate the specific and actionable measures. Previous regulations are ambiguous and leave wide space for interpretation, resulting in inconsistent implementation approaches that, in my opinion, do not provide meaningful data protections.
As business and tech leaders decide on their approach for aligning to the GDPR, I want to do my part in providing a simple implementation plan that doesn't conflict with innovation and growth goals of tech companies. Providing a solution here will not only be a big win for leaders of rising tech companies, but more importantly, to the everyday consumer!

This talk will share how I approached this, the results, and learnings along the way.
